What happens if I go into a tunnel and lose my mobile signal?
Mobile Marketmaker® will detect if your phone's signal has been lost and display a connection status screen. Once a signal returns, mobile Marketmaker® will automatically attempt to re-connect.

What happens if I lose my connection when I am in the middle of a trade?
Just as with desktop Marketmaker®, a trade may not reach RBS Spread Trading servers if your network connection is lost at an inappropriate time. If the order can be transmitted to RBS Spread Trading, the phone will display an accurate order status screen upon reconnection. If the order cannot be transmitted, the phone will continue to display the order placement screen upon reconnection. As with desktop Marketmaker®, you should consult your All Orders blotter to determine the status of any order.

Will trading on mobile Marketmaker® be expensive?
There is no extra charge for using Marketmaker® on your mobile - all you need to pay for are the standard networking costs to your mobile network operator.

In our preliminary trials, we found the average GPRS data usage to be about 150K bytes per hour. Depending on trading patterns and market volatility, you should expect this figure to vary - perhaps by double this amount or more.

As a guideline, 150K bytes per hour on a standard Vodafone tariff of 2.35 per MB equates to around 35p per hour. It is worth noting that most operators offer far better deals with bundled data packages.

Is trading on mobile Marketmaker® secure?
Mobile Marketmaker® uses industry standard encryption techniques to ensure client data is transmitted securely over any phone network.

What happens if I am abroad?
Mobile Marketmaker® should operate over any GPRS data network. You are advised to check with their mobile operator for pricing of GPRS data access abroad. This applies to customers outside of the UK as well, we will not have tested with all providers but as long as the provider has a GPRS network, then mobile Marketmaker® should work.
